I would have to agree with the Dude on this one. My whole thought process is that selling out is making an album one way and then changing up your sound due to one song, although not on the main vein of the rest of the album, became a hit. Classic example-Sugar Ray. Their album with 'Fly' on it was mostly heavier music, e.g. RPM, but because Fly was a hit, their next two albums rarely touched on that heavy vibe they had before. Its not that I don't like Sugar Ray (Mark McGrath is a camera whore though), I just feel they are one obvious example of 'selling out'. Gomez is very experimental and seem to add greatly to their sound with each album, but still come with the same principles. With that said, I think after 4 albums and all the praise they have been given underground, they are due some more mainstream attention. Not that I want to hear shot shot or sound of sounds blaring incessantly on US radio anytime soon, but it would be nice to see them get some more props over here. Most important though, is the fact that they seem to have a great fan base in Europe and Oz and as long as I am still able to find their music, Im happy. Thats just my opinion though, what does anybody else think about the selling out? Radiohead is not a sell out, at least here, otherwise they would be playing songs that all sound like 'creep'.
