that's very cool that you checked out the site! Quite a ride, eh? 500 mph, range, 2000 miles! And he flys it himself. Are you saying preacher's shouldn't fly jets?

people who sell booze for a living have jets. people who sell pornography and every other popular product, why not churches?

jim bakker was the leader of a ministry that grew and grew and he made some personal mistakes that led to his demise (actually, I don't know the man, but I believe he is probably better off today because of the lessons he learned). This sort of thing happens everyday in other businesses and yet people point to jim and somehow it is unthinkable for a man of God. Well, he's just a man and men are subject to being corrupted by positions of power no matter what their line of work is. That goes for brother Moore, myself and every other earthly leader. The whole idea is not to put your faith in men, or even in yourself.

I believe the devil will work overtime in the lives of those who have purposed to serve God, but the good news is there is One who is greater that will always provide a way out, if we, as believers, will only heed the warnings!

One thing's for sure, this isn't your average, dull, New England church! no offense to any church goers that might be visiting here, but there is a better way! I was in one friday night meeting where $500,000 was raised to pay for this bird, a Citation V, which is a tool of the ministry for this day and age. I fully expect that brother Moore will be flying into the Berlin airport in it one day to give us encouragement here in Vermont.

It is very exciting to be involved with such a happening ministry and I happen to believe that that is the way God intended church to be; very exciting and with His people prospering, and not just financially but every other way a person can prosper (spiritually, physically, socially, etc.)! But if you like a dull and lifeless church that's your perogative!

I believe New England, in general, has gotten away from where God intended us all to be as Christians. 150 years ago, or so, people were serious about church. All you have to do is look at any good size New England town and count the churches and when they were built. They were the biggest and best buildings around and they were built with the 'followers' money, as Bob has put it. God has always moved people to do great things for Him and yes sometimes we get full of ourselves and try to make things happen and get burned in the process. It is the same old story. All you have to do is look at the stories of the Jews in the old testament and you'll see what God did and how the people reacted. There's nothing new today. People are the same and are subject to the same influences that they were then; greed, lust, power, you name it.

The bottom line is this, when you give your life to Him, He doesn't ask you to give up living, actually Jesus was quoted as saying this:

"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

It's the thief's job to keep people in the dark, or believing that to be God's followers they have to go without, or be poor, or sick, or weak and that it is God's way of building character; that only through suffering can we be spiritual. Well I believe that it's a lie! It wasn't God's idea that we should be sick, or broke, or weak in faith 2000 years ago, and it isn't that way now! God wants us all who serve Him to step up to take our rightful place in the kingdom. I'm comin' up!

This sort of thinking may not be popular among Christians here in this part of the world at this moment, but trust me, it's coming and all who call on the name of Jesus CAN be a part of it!

Thanks Bob for again giving me fodder to preach about!

Again Tim I am impressed with your tolerance and ability to put with my view. I still think an orgainized Religion which attempts to grow and Profit on the large scale is doomed to failure. We do have a history to look back on. This type of movement is responsible for more death and destruction then anything else on this earth. It always leads to intolerance. The new age structure which harvests money based on fear is just a large scale of the small village church of 100 years ago. People naturally fear the unkown and are drawn to an explaination like a moth to a flame. Some people just can't handle not knowing something and need structured belief to relive the stress of Why. It is pretty clear that we will never know it all so why get all God fearing about it? There is little to suggest that anything in this universe gives a rats ass about what happens to us. There is even less to suggest that some single being made all this. Faith in a creator is fine if it makes you feel good. When it becomes an addiction its just that. You can believe without spending all your time proving it to the world. I wonder when after other church expereinces one suddenly has the answer the others missed. Seems like snake oil after a while.

I also have 3 people in my family (Jo's side) that are as I call them Psycho Christian. They in all cases shun family in friends for the Church. In one case a self inflicted castration almost ended in death. This was done to remove the urge to have sex and make following the lord easier. This resulted in a divorce and a loss of a home. Last I heard this guy was living in his car. He had the far off look and the measured responses to questions. Always seemed like he thought someone was watching him all the time.

What ever Tim. We go back a long way and it does seem since the JC thing really took hole that you are a lot less fun. Just an observation which is the only reason I would even bother writing all this.
