I am intrigued by the idea that in seasons 6 and 7 we may see a Big Bad who is someone whom we all know and love (be it Willow herself or the Scoobies in general). As Doc points out above, almost all of the past Big Bads have been flat characters who personified "unadulterated evil." With a beloved character as a Big Bad, we can challenge our ideas about what evil really is, and whether people can be fully evil.

In many of the early seasons, we see the characters as somewhat flat when it comes to good vs. evil - Good Buffy, protector of the world, Good AND evil Angel, Evil Spike and Dru, Evil Glory, etc. The later seasons begin to further develop the main characters and show their good and bad sides: Buffy is still a good person, but somewhat abusive towards Spike; Spike has committed some good deeds, but we don't know what his true nature is; Willow falls into the Dark magic; Dawn is a good kid deep down, but also a bit of a delinquent. Furthermore, we don't yet know what will happen with Anya as a result of HB. The point is, many of the characters have begun to blur the line between good and bad, and I think that this development will be fulfilled if one of the Scoobies were to turn evil.

I've always loved Willow, and am curious to see how I would react to her as a more evil character...I wonder if I will still feel some sympathy towards her. It's kind of like my feelings about Spike; I have major sympathies towards him, but have trouble seeing him as "good" or "evil."

It's typical for TV shows and movies to offer clear depictions of good and evil. I think it would make this show that much more rich to challenge those notions.
