How long did it take to fight the Cold War? Forty plus years? There were likely times when people thought there was no solution. Is the War on Terrorism so much different? The Cold War was at its most basic, hatred between the US and Communism. Terrorism is hatred aimed at the US because of what we stand for. In a perfect world, we could follow John Kerry to a conference table with the Bin Laden's, Eric Rudolph's, and Tim McVeigh's of the world and work out an agreement. They would apologize. We would name a street after them, and all would be happy.

But, their only priority in life is to see us dead. (I'm speaking more if Islamic-Terrorists now.) Therefore, they must die. If we create a Hydra, then, those 2 must die. Where will it stop? It probably won't. But, I know this. We haven't been attacked on our soil in almost 3 years. That's impressive. We have no idea what sort of attacks have been prevented over this time period. You may say that the "Terrorism Alert" is just a way to keep the ball rolling. I'm going to trust that my government is going to protect me.

And, when another attack does happen, it's for one reason only -- they will never stop unless they are permanently stopped. They have the advantage. It's like a chess game. We're black. We'll always start out one move behind. And, we are playing with fewer pawns.
