For an Old Fiend

Sometimes I blunder
Upon my old fiend, bent
On vile destruction,
trussed in the basement.

I wonder if he ever
Does quite what he says?
Cursing the righteous
In his dark callow ways.

As I plod through existence
Common and cold,
Where fiends live as outcasts
Hidden deep in our souls.
Sometimes I still hear him
Howl out a shrill wheeze

Laughing

in the stench of disease.
