When I worked for Indianapolis Public schools I had to deal with differences in culture all of the time - in this case it was two American cultures - Black and White.

AS a group, African-Americans are much, much louder than Whites in public and whites tend to respond negatively to loud groups in public. A loud group of young black men are a gang. A loud group of young black women are considered ignorant and arrogant - just because they are do not follow white social customs.

A great example of this difference in perception is the Blaxk Expo vs. the Indy 500 & Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis. There used to be many more arrests at the Black Expo than at either of the two races, despite the massive amount of drinking at the two races. Probably, it is because of the fact that even while wasted drunk, whites tend to be quieter in public.
