Bush demanding evidence that Saddam has no weapons - demanding proof of it -- is the demand of the impossible. He knows it, and he uses it as his wedge to convince Americans that Saddam is not cooperating.

Here is, however, an anlogy to the situation.

Bob the former thief had once been in jail. He had been known to embezzle money, and made millions before he was caught. He was thrown in jail for 5 years, and came out on probation. Three years after being out on probation, a bank's computers have been hacked, and millions have been stolen.

Police officer Grudge never liked Bob. His father was also a police offer, Grudge Sr, and Grudge Sr was the one who arrested Bob in the first place. Grudge Sr thought Bob should have been put in for life, and he felt humiliated that Bob got off easily. Officer Grudge also feels the same. He has this feeling that the one who stole the money was Bob. Bob's bank accounts, and his way of living, suggests he doesn't have the money, and he says he is innocent. Officer Grudge tries to think of how Bob could have stolen the money and hid it -- and says it is all in a Swiss Bank account.. hidden away. He says Bob has to prove he has no swiss bank account in order to prove he is innocent. Grudge also says he fears Bob will raid more banks and use more Swiss Bank Accounts, and so there is the threat that a major economic scare could happen. How can Bob prove he has no bank account? He can say he has none, but since the accounts are anonymous, no one can prove he doesn't. So he is "guilty" because he can't prove. And the more time goes by, the more Officer Grudge says "by not showing to us all swiss bank accounts so that we know you don't have one, we know you are hiding something and so must be guilty."

How can Bob defend himself? He is presumed guilty, with a way that it is impossible to show otherwise. This, however, is the mentality Bush has put in place for Iraq. There is no way to really prove -- even if things are shown to be gone, Bush can say "but there is more"
