Subject: Religion (Omega?)

Recently, Vince and I have been talking about the nature of religion, and I thought of asking you a question, since you are well read on the subject.

Vince and I noticed that the majority of religions we have knowledge about are many times based upon the assumption that there is something fundamentally wrong with humans from the start. Either we are born sinful or we are born into suffering, etc. From your experience, what do other religions teach in this regard? Then, as a second question, do other religions teach that the keys to life are about changing yourself? That is, becoming a better person, more compassionate, more loving, etc.?
