Rush hour will start building roughly at 4 or 4:30-ish. This is judging from my Wednesday trek to dance class north of O'Hare...we usually head out at 4:30 to miss the insane portion of the rush which usually hits between 5 and 6. So I think you'll be missing the fun part if you have to be at Midway at 5! It'll take you about two and a half to three hours to get there, AND you need to add an hour onto that (get to Midway a full hour EARLY) to deal with the new airport security. So says my Mother, amen. :) Hehe.
