NORMALLY... once images and pages have been loaded, they will stay in the user's computer's cache or temporary internet files, so that the next time they view the page (providing the cache hasn't been cleared, or they haven't been on the site for some time) the images and pages will be reloaded from their cache - images in particular.

So if one person stays on the site for some time and goes from dress page 1 to 2 to 1 again, to dress 105's back image to 1, to 2 to 3.. your bandwidth should only be affected ONCE by page 1, 2 and 3, and the dress back page, and once for each of the photos that were loaded..

after that those files will be viewed from within the person's computer, so won't be affecting your bandwidth.

I think that reducing the time limit for dresses is a good idea.. you have a lot of dresses on the site that have been up the whole time you have had the site, and havn't budged, whcih are going to be taking up some of your bandwidth ( and stopping other new dresses going up).

You could also suggest that people donate a small amount when they buy or sell a dress. Put a note up on the front page that explains to people reasons why they should donate to the site.

  • As an option to TOTALLY removing old dresses at 3 mos, maybe you could move them to a "storage bin" -- megsdance, 12:13:49 02/03/03 Mon
  • I did consider this... -- Lisa-DanceAgain, 13:19:47 02/03/03 Mon
