AH! Had you mentioned WHY he killed him, I would walked out at that point & told him why. This adds A LOT more color to your story!!
But as far as the guns go, I see shotguns out in full view all the time (mine is unloaded behind my bedroom door) Would not have it in open if I had a child. Didn't even buy a gun until my daughter turned 18 & started working at Police Dept.
Anyway, you are right it IS hard to describe HOW you feel when you are in an awkward position. My advice is to leave ASAP should you EVER get those gut feelings.
On another note, I would advice everyone to take their home addresses OFF your brochure/cards etc & go out & buy a PO Box.
