I entered my daughter's brand new, first ever, photos in many online contests at the same time. I was thrilled when she won a few, happy when she got "runner-up" type awards in some, and of course disappointed when she didn't place in several. This demonstrated to me that each of the contests/judges has different opinions and/or criteria, which, is what a "contest" is all about. If there was a 100% guaranteed quotient for winning (i.e. photographer, clothing style, hair color, etc...) all of the photos would look the same and contests would not exist. If you wish to participate, then do so and enjoy! If participation causes you undue stress and frustration, then exercise your right to choose and find another avenue to use your great photos! I certainly want to send the message to my child that "you win some, you lose some" and her reaction to whatever the outcome is what reflects her true personality. Learning to be a gracious loser is just as important as jubilantly celebrating a win!
