We thoroughly enjoyed the Colorado Cinderella State pageant. Sure my daughter was disappointed she didn't win an overall title, but she handled it with grace and poise. As for some of the allegations, I happen to know the teen who one overall and know that she is in no way related to the state director. The state director helped with a preliminary that she competed in, but didn't officially meet her until she registered at the state competition. How did the rumor come about that they were related?
As for the baby, the baby that won High Point - which is the overall award for all the babies - was awarded to a baby that was not the daughter of a director. There was a baby of a director in the baby division, but she didn't win the highest award. As for the Overall Miniature Miss, she is a director's kid, but that's not why she won. Has anyone heard of hard work and determination. That young lady worked hard for 1 1/2 years to have a chance to earn her award. All the Miniature Misses worked hard to get there, but she just shined.
When the pageant was over, I was able to get feedback by the judges from the state director. They were very helpful in getting ready for Internationals.
In every competitive event, whether it's sports,or pageants there are people that get upset when things don't go as they think they should. Rather than stepping back and taking an objective look, it's easier to cast stones and blame. Our kids see how we react to "losses" and if we react badly, brood, stomp, whine, then they will do the same rather that see the awesome things they just accomplished. Thus, they don't learn how to become graceful losers or graceful winners. Parents be careful how you are acting because your children are watching!
We love the Cinderella system and will stick with it. For those of you who don't like, I am sure there is a pageant system more to your liking. That's why there are thousands of pageants.
Colorado Cinderella is awesome, and we are glad to be a part of it, and we are proud and lucky to have the state director we have!
