- It depends on where you live. A lot of times the prices are cheaper if you can go to the photographer's studio and not do a "location" shoot. David Parker is wonderful and has a website www.davidparker.net. He is in Dothan, AL as is Toni Overby but she travels all over the country and her location shoots are a lot higher than going to her house. My favorite is David because he is versatile and does a lot of modeling shoots not just pageant. Also Clay Spann out of Dothan is great and they have a website as well www.clayspann.com. BEWARE OF PRETTY BY NATURE!! I would like to have everyone’s opinion on this. First, I want to say that this is not a bash to any contestants. We did this pageant this weekend and the directors were very dishonest. The paperwork said that you compete as age date of pageant. My daughter competed in the 4/5 yr. age group with another beautiful little girl. They both did an excellent job. The other little girl done talent in their age group and the director was talking about what a great job she done and asked her mother how old she was. The mother said that she was 6, but she was competing in the 4/5 age group. -- No name, 19:02:21 06/08/04 Tue
She beat my daughter by one tenth of a point for the 4/5 beauty title. Well, I confronted the directors about her age and they told me that this happened at all pageants. I told them that this was not right being that it said on the paperwork that you compete as age date of pageant. If they were going to let this little girl have a grace period then all of the girls in the pageant should have had a grace period. How many of the other girls could have fallen back? The directors kept telling me that it was just 30 days what was the big deal and if they had not asked her age how would I have known. Well, you are correct I would have not known, but this just shows that your system makes exceptions for some and that your pageant was very dishonest. They also said that if they had moved the little girl up then they would have had to combine my daughter’s age group with the 6/8 age group. Well directors that is what you should have done!! Why was it right for this 6yr old to compete with a 5yr old when other 6yr olds had to compete in the 6-8 age group? Why not move them down? You said that you wanted to have as many winners as possible then why didn’t you award the 0-3 grand supreme and the 4-up overalls? We paid $60.00 to enter the overalls and you didn’t even award them. When asked you said that if you had awarded them that they would have went to the grand supreme winner anyway. Well, if she entered the overalls then you should have awarded her money on stage. If she didn’t pay to enter them, then you should have went to the contestants that paid to enter them and chose a winner. To the grand supreme winner if you see this post and you entered the overalls I would be calling the directors and requesting my $150.00. Also, this is the first pageant that we have done that the directors did not introduce the judges. I know that some people will think that I’m posting this because I’m a sore loser, but that is not the case. I know my daughter will win some and lose some. I posted this because of the dishonety in this pageant. Thanks for letting me vent and sorry for such a long post!! I hope this will help people to stay away from this pageant. They also have a glitz pageant. It used to be Dream Angels, but have now changed it to something Treasures.

We have done their other system and they change the rules to accomadate who they want too and don't care about the rest as long as their winners come out to be who they want. Several at the pageant DA National had my DD picked as at least the DIvsion winner if not a higher title. But that meant winning over some "BIG" girls and that day they didn't perform as well as my DD. Others brought it up to me not the other way around. My DD i signed her up for everything and spent over $400 on the entry form alone SHE DID not win but 1 plaque they give to everyone!<~this was the easter pageant
Then the Natl's I spent over $550 on the entry form & $400 on the sponser tickets AND guess what my dd won? a half a foot tall trophy that said thanks for particpating
MY DD has High glitz pageant wear that cost me over $5000
and Coach that cost me over $200 an hour
I MEAN she wins everywhere else but at AAM & SUSA NO she dont win nothing AND they always let the same people when even on the entry form it says we will not crown last years winners!! B***S***!!!! SAME PEOPLE WIN THE SAME THING EVERY YEAR FOR THE PAST 5YRS.!
AND I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE SAME JUDGES FROM 2002 DID THIS YEARS NATIONALS!! WHAT A RIP OFF!
I WOULD STAY FAR A WAY FROM THIS PAGEANT SYSTEM!!

- This pageant is great. I've known the directors professionall for 9 years. They used to direct for Coed. It's totally on the level with real judges and rules ar strictly enforced. They are not a glitz system and look for a ton of personality, beauty and confidence. Most winners wear off the rack dresses in white or a light color. REGARDING DIANA DEGARMOS LAST PERFORMANCE!!
My friend Janet was at the rehearsal for the finale today (she's a Fantasia fan keep in mind) but she told me that something happened that no one knows about but the people that were in the rehearsal .. she told me so I HAVE to share because I can't BELIEVE this .. it's regarding Diana DeGarmo.
Janet told me that during rehearsal Diana's last song "Don't Cry Out Loud" was PERFECT and she nailed it. Everyone was in awe. But the minute she stepped on that stage after her first 2 songs to perform it LIVE they changed up the song mojuluation on her and it went flat
and Diana started freaking out. They also made the song longer .. they didn't TELL her and they changed it up on NATIONAL TELEVISION .. LIVE! They also planned during certain parts in the song where Diana fell flat because of this to turn up the volume so it was made noticeable.
Janet told me after she performed, Diana's mom told her this and John Steven's mom and Carmen Rasmussen's mom commented on this as well (since they all were also at the rehearsal).
I'm sorry, but the show had NO RIGHT to do that to her regardless of the fact they want Fantasia to win. To pull that on someone is unacceptable.
Please feel free to copy this message Diana fans and post it ON ANY MESSAGE BOARD YOU WANT. I got permission from my friend and she said this needs to be leaked out in the media and other fans. As a Fantasia fan she said her friends and herself found this to be "incredibly wrong" of the show to do.
What the producers will do to get their way .. it sickens me. Let America decide who they want. Don't pull stupid crap to try to sway the voting.
And another side note, I found the judges comments to be incredibly inappropriate after her last song .. HER LAST SONG IN THE TOP 2 OF AMERICAN IDOL .. HER ***LAST**** PERFORMANCE AND THEY CAN'T FIND ONE GOOD THING TO SAY?!?! Terrible

Hi ladies! My daughter, who is two, is just starting pageants. We live in the midwest, and tehre aren't a lot of systems in our state. SO....we did a CM prelim and are now headed to state in March. We are also doing a Miss Merry Christmas with SB. What are your opinions of these two systems?

Ok yes I am new to all this, My Chasity is 4 so I guess I started late. I have been to 2 pageants one was a joke local thing that I will not even consider a pageant very rigged the girl who won knew the judges ha, waste of money !! But the other one I am not sure of . Maybe this is how all pageants run. First I was lied to the director told me there were only 8 people entered in the pageant not even a whole week before the pageant. Second I was lied to she also told me (I asked) that the christmas pageants normally get natural contestants, that was soo wrong I got there with my daughter after driving 4 hours, and bringing only the make-up i had in my purse, and a dress i made myself, to find out that these girls had everything from custom made dresses to fake teeth hair eyelashes tans. Thrid I asked her if she needed experence to do this pageant , she told me no that this pageant is a good place to start, and since there were so few girls she had a chance at winning a title. So since it was a double I didn't want to miss out. I somehow came up with the money in such a short period of time , and we went, well these girls all had routiens!!! Ethier they had coaches or they have been doing it all their lives. well the outcome There was 4 girls in my daughters group not bad. The same 2 girls got supreme in both pageant , these girls entered every optional available. ( I was told also that all i needed was a christmas wear outfit and her pageant dress i was not aware of casual wear, sports wear ect.) In one of the pageants my daughter took 1 runner up but since there were too supreme and one queen that mean 4 th my daughter was last! the second pagent the same 2 girls got supreme again and my daughter share the queen title with the other girl( might i add she was the only other girl without fake hair!) One good thing I liked was my daughter took best hair in one of the pageants , and she didn't have a hair piece. She got prettiest eyes in both ( if you saw her eyes you would know why). Another thing that upset me was on the flyer it said all queens would be recieve and fur trimmed robe but i quess since it was a tie my daughter didn't get one. There were some nice people there on girls had to many trophies at home so she gave my daughter some of hers and a robe how nice was that!!!! ( I also want to add that this girl was in chasitys group great sportsmanship on her part. Most of the other moms and kids looked at us as if we were aliens !!! One even when my mom kinda noded and smiled at her rolled her eyes . geez my mom was just trying to be nice!! Well I am sorry to drag this on MY QUESTION IS DO YOU HAVE TO SPEND THOUSANDS IN ORDER TO WIN? DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A BRAND NAME PHOTOGRAHER TO WIN , DO YOU HAVE TO ENTER EVERY OPTIONAL AVAILABLE TO WIN. WE DON'T HAVE VERY MUCH MONEY TO PUT INTO THIS DOES MY DAUGHTER EVEN STAND A CHANCE? What a waste of money and time.
My poor daughter's heart was broken participating in such a pageant. Out of 300 and something girls they picked 30 to move on(10out of each category)(3). This pageant is all for the money. They were recently in New York this year for the 2005Pre-Teen New York,2005Jr.Teen New York and 2005Teen New York. They picked the fairest (not the best) people to move on. I think this pageant is a bunch of politics. This family behind me basically knew there daughter was going to be picked and then at the end of the show the father hugged one of the judges before he had to be escorted away. The judge was probably in tears because he didn't get to vote for the person he wanted to vote for. My daughter's first pagaent was so ghetto and it took place in a high school. Most of the girls there you knew should not supposed to be there. All they ever wanted was their money and they found that out in the end. I just hope people read this mesage and are aware of what chance there daughter has of winning a 1000 person pagaent.
Next time(if there is one) my daughter is going to go for a real pagaent. One that actually take place in a hotel. And is professional not politics and money.

Just wanted to say, enter Precious Moments with caution. It is a very good system, the director does things very professionally and the prizes are great. That said, the same girls win every time. So, if you're not "in the loop", you won't come away with a crown. Just look at her website and you'll see what I mean. Same girls winning from the same towns. Might be a coincidence...I'm not saying she rigs her pageants. Just saying that it APPEARS that you must be an insider to prosper in this one. Enter cautiously!

Ladies, think of it this way, what is your goal for your daughter. If you start her before the age of 7 or 8 she does not have a clue of what she wants in life. Seriously,
when they get to be that age they start to know what it is like to win or not win. If they truly enjoy pageants then keep doing them, if they don't then find another avenue for them to experience. I think competition is healthy for all ages weather it be sports, dance, cheerleading, band, orchestra, plays, pageants, etc. If you stay with pageants or are just now intoducing your daughter to pageants, make sure you do your due dilengence with each one before entering, making sure you know what they want.
Go and watch the year before entering.
Pictures, clothes, coaches etc... it can be costly and can be a political game for some. The most important thing is your daughters self esteem. If this can't be met then do something that can! Remember, winning is not everything, but knowing how to play the game is.. in the long run. Protect your children as parents and be safe, life is so short, if your not having fun, stop and re-group!

Let us do a little maths. 300+ girls at $495.00 through sponsors. $15.00 per ticket, plus video(optional)plus $75.00 if interested in Miss Photogenic.
The show started at 4pm but the girls had to be there from 3pm even though they had been there all morning.
The show ended a little past 10pm and these girls did not get any snacks. For the amount of money the pageant got, these ladies should have recieved a bottle of water, a sandwich and a piece of fruit. At the end, all that did not win should have recieved a rose or even a small trophy. The director never came into the room to give any type of comforting speech to the crying young ladies after the show. I just felt it was a little informal. Overall it was too long for such young 'ladies'. Even Miss Universe is not as long and drawn out as this show. Even some of the judges left for a little while and the girls were still coming out in their evening gowns :( ..
I believe by doing the math on this show, it is only for the money..thats right. My daughter loved it very much even though she did not win, there was someone in the audience that saw her and is signing her..Good luck to all of you. If you do chose this particular pageant. Make sure you have all you money 'cause if you are $20.00 short they will call you out of the show. That is right. Real nice people right...NOT!!!!!!!!!!

The results speak for themselves but I thought I'd still point out some things.
-Toni Overby, Donna Mallard and BTK photos do steadily well in almost every contest.
-The majority of contests have winners from at least 4 different photographers.
-Statistics show that every single contest has 1 "leading" photographer but except in 2 cases (Charms and Dazzling Faces) this "preference" is not so obvious.
-Two contests owned by the same director may have very different results. For example Toni Overby does very well in THE but not in Dazzling Faces, who are both owned by the same director. Both Troy & Michael and BTK do great in Unforgettable Faces but not that well in Diamond Doll. Toni Overby leads in Diamond Doll but only got 1 winner in Unforgettable Faces. Same director, different results. Could it be that the judges score on the FACE and not on the photographer ? SHOCKING.
Before you start bashing directors again take a few minutes to check your facts before you post, invent rumors, and make fools out of yourselves.
Most contests are fair, whether your daughter wins them or not.

I myself do my daughter own photos and have never used any of the above named photographers. When contestants send me photos the only reason I know who its from is if they tell me which 95% do not. Apparently our loonatic that is lose on the board has the ability to use any IP address he/she wants to. I'm banning them as fast as I can however the board will remain moderated until he decides to give it up. His posts will never be made visible.
Also, for all of you that have emailed me wanting to know why you don't have access... turn off your anonymizer and you will have access. There are still a few out there that can use anonymizer, for the time being, but the mojority of Anonymizer users are banned and I will continue to ban all IPs that come from anonymizer.

There will always be the pushy parent or the unevitable stage mother, but that stereotype is not typical of most pageant moms. The notion that all pageants promote the use of wigs, false teeth, ect... is also an untruth. I raised four daughters and we tried several pageant systems. My girls are now grown, happy, successful and quite confident in themselves. One is an attorney, one is a pharmacist, and the other two are still in college working on degrees. They learned early on that it is not just about outer beauty, but rather how they carry themselves and allow their inner beauty to shine in everything they do. If they did not win a particular pageant, we still went out to eat afterwards as a family. Pageants allowed them to interact with other girls their age who also enjoyed dressing up and having fun. Most of these girls also had other outside interests and hobbies such as gymnastics, dance, basketball, ect... Girls who enter pageants usually are high achievers in everything they do. They gain confidence, self-esteem, and happiness in their activities. There is nothing wrong with a girl who can walk into a room filled with people and be comfortable with herself and make others in that room feel the same way. Entering pageants is a competition and children will find competition in most everything they do in life. Not all little league players are the captain of the team, or the fastest, or the best hitter or catcher. Still they play and learn things like commitment, team spirit and love for the sport itself. These things will serve them throughout their growing up years as well. I could go on and on , but your letter reads full of negativity and ignorance. As a parent your responsibility is to teach your child that they can do anything they are willing to try. They may not excel at it, but if they are having fun, where is the harm? There are bad coaches and bad pageant directors. Your job as a parent is to find the good ones and they DO exist. My daughter is not going to find a plastic surgeon to marry...she is going to BE the doctor!

Has anyone out there been to a Stars over Georgia Pageant? I am not talking about Stars over the USA. They recently held a Miss Jingle Belle Pageant in Andrews, NC and I thought the prizes were awesome. This was just a preliminary. I can only enter my daughter in one state or national event this year and I was considering Stars over Georgia based on what I saw in Andrews. Anybody else have knowledge of them?
