Subject: Well here's my take on this from a boy pageant mom (click in)
In reply to: 's message, "Your only saying it because he is a little boy. If it were a girl you would be full of advice for her. My opinion is try it and see if you like it, boys have stage personality as much as girls and they are so cute up there and I love boys groups coming out because it changes from the same thing you see in each of the girls groups with there little tuxes. Here is my advice, get a good tux, good headshot and give it a try! Do any pageant once don't listen to people because each person has a different opinion on what pageants they like. Try it yourself and if you don't like it don't go back." on 10:50:47 12/25/04 Sat

Think long and hard before you get him in pageants. Then, think long and hard again. Been there and done that for years. It's a total waste of money and after you have spent thousands and thousands for clothes, coach and photos, step back and look at what he wins. It's a hobby that is NOT GEARED towards boys nor wants boys to participate. The return is never worth the investment! Not to mention the bashing he will receive from people who have no idea what he is like just assuming because he is doing pageants that he is a sissy or you are turning him into something else. We got out after several years of realizing no matter how hard we tried a boy is just always considered the lowest class contestant at pageants. If I could go back and change things I would never have put him in pageants or would have stuck to the prelim and state level pageants only. Take my advice and don't start pageants with him. You'll get hooked and even though you know you're wasting your money at every one you do, you will continue until one day you look back and realize it was just plain idiocy to invest over a grand per national when the only payout he is ever likely to receive is a divisional win of a $500 bond which equals 250 cash for your 1,000+ entry fee! Oh, I forgot to mention you will get a cheap toy, satin crown and monogrammed banner for that grand you spent but only if you're lucky because directors have a way of forgetting to order those boy awards or the boy crowns are the ones that always get broken somehow right before crowning. Find a hobby for him where he is welcome and wanted believe me you will never feel at home or really welcome in a pageant ballroom!
