Subject: I'm not a pageant mom, just an observer. I have daughters in all-star cheerleading and all-star dance, and regular dancing... it is NO DIFFERENT FROM PAGEANTS! you get judged on "appearance" at cheer and dance competitions, and on stage you MUST be wearing alot of make-up so you can be seen under the bright lights, just like pageants.. I know plenty of children who dance onstage very often, and get either spray-on tans or self tanner so they can look better onstage. Yes, people should be watching their dancing and not their makeup and hair, but unfortunately..

appearance really does count for alot too. That's just the facts of life. and in dance and cheerleading, there can be provocative music or dance moves... so does that mean I'm "abusing" my child? for letting them do what they love to do? because they simply MUST wear makeup to be seen under the bright lights? it really is no different from pageants.yes, there are some moms that make their kids do it. but I doubt that there are really that many, in all honesty. because if a child does not like to do something, you can tell in their performance. and then they wouldn't be doing so well and placing so high.... just something I thought I'd post! have a good day.

p.s. - and to the people who protest against eating candy... PIXIE STICKS ARE A CHILD'S BEST FRIEND WHEN THEY HAVE LIPSTICK ON! a small little snack that won't mess up the makeup that took so long to put on.
