Subject: Split rumors?!

So i know we've heard split rumors tons of times before (InTouch, for example, is hellbent on making it their every week's cover LOL) but when it suddenly appeared partially on the cover of the Sunday's NY Daily News with the words blaring "SPLIT!", i raised an eyebrow. After all, NY Daily News is not known for publishing rubbish. This was the story:

http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2010/01/23/2010-01-23_brangelina_break_up_brad_pitt_angelina_jolie_meet_lawyers_to_divide_fortune_shar.html

But then, lo and behold the story was refuted the very next day:

http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2010/01/24/2010-01-24_angelina_jolie_and_brad_pitt_split_rumors_not_true_despite_report_that_they_met_.html

People.com also jumped on the bandwagon:

I dont know, but seems a little strange to me that a paper like Daily News would feel confident enough in these sources to put that headline on the cover (mind you, not the full cover, just on the sidebar but still) if they didnt have some valid sources. Although the fact that they were referring to a London tabloid News of the World as their primary source does not exactly give them any credibility. I dont know, perhaps it was a slow news week...or maybe they're on to something? Guess we'll find out eventually....

Thoughts?

Myst
