stop the presses: looks like JA and AJ didn’t try to kill each other or anything:

wow, amazing. They put on smiles, behaved like two normal adults and didn’t do anything to embarrass themselves, who would’ve thought? Astounding isn’t it? *rolls eyes*
Although i gotta say, i find it very interesting that JA brought her boy toy John Mayer to this thing and was hanging all over him at the Vanity Fair afterparty... It's like she really feels that she has something to prove, doesn't she? Hmmm....
Video interview from Brad and AJ's arrival:

I like Brad’s “I’m here to win” joke, looks like he’s taking all this in stride.
My comments on the Oscars that on the whole it was a rather predictable, and not terribly exciting show this year. It was filled with poignant moments (like Heath Ledger's family accepting the award on his behalf) but on the whole, I can't say i was riveted to my seat. I think Hugh Jackman did his best but the musical numbers were sort of flat. He is more suited for the TONYs, this was a bit over the top with all the top hat bonanza. What I did love about the show (not to be all Debbie Downer about it or everything) is this new way that they presented the acting categories with 5 Actors and Actresses who won the award in the past paying tribute to each and every one of the nominees. This was a really good idea, I am surprised they haven’t thought of doing this before. It really added not only the dignity of all these luminaries sharing the stage, but to pay touching tributes like that was really special. They used to just run through the list of nominees (especially at the end for Leads because they would typically run out of time) so it was nice that they took the time to really honor the nominees in the acting categories this year. I really liked Anthony Hopkins tribute to Brad (it’s funny, when they came out, I just knew Hopkins would be the one talking about Brad and I was right hehe)
I was crushed that Mickey Rourke lost in Best Actor category, I was really pulling for him this time. Sean Penn did a great job with his role but it was Mickey’s moment, Sean can whip these kind of performances out in his sleep and he already has an Oscar for Best Actor for Mystic River. I felt Mickey was robbed :(
Would've loved to see CCofBB win Best Picture but it was pretty much sealed in stone that Slumdog was going to get that one. I watched that movie last week to see what all the fuss is about and while there's no denying it's a very good movie and very profound, it still didn't make me feel an iota of what CCofBB made me feel. That one is and will always Best Picture of 2008 in my book....
As for fashion, i thought for the most part everyone looked great. Loved Jolie's emerald jewelry to complement her black dress...It was funny though, one article online stressed the fact that she wore black (again) and said that she ruled the red carpet this year, and she made sure to arrive last and walk out "like a Disney villainess amongst a sea of princesses happily frolicking to the Kodak theatre in their light frilly ballgowns" Cracked me up, it's so funny because a lot of actresses did wear light colored princess-like ballgowns (ex: Penelope Cruz, Sarah Jessica Parket, etc.) So i guess AJ really cemented her Mistress of the Dark reputation, ha? At least it was a very elegant black dress that complemented her body and was fashion forward, not one of the shapeless sacks that she wore to the SAGs or something...
So those are my reviews... any comments?
