Subject: War on Drugs?
In reply to: anon 's message, "Cayman's War On Drugs" on 19:59:38 02/13/02 Wed

I have to disagree with Government controlling the supply. Show me something else it does well. They would probably view it as a revenue measure. In a free market cocaine could cost the same as sugar, eighty cents for five pounds.

You are allowed to throw away your life on alcohol, tobacco, twinkies, diabetes, and to contract aids through unprotected sex and still get treatment, what is the problem with people throwing away their lives on drugs? Let Darwin work.

I think everyone who can be convinced to not use dugs already has. Declare a victory and go home. The public suffers more misery at the hands of addicts stealing to afford an expensive habit and drug lords killing to protect their profits. If drugs were affordable addicts could do odd jobs and eat coconuts. Who would break in to a police station to steal drugs if they cost the same as sugar?

Sure there would be addicts suffering from their addiction and young lives would be lost. 1000 people die every day in the US from disease directly related to smoking. Where is the war on tobacco? 500 die every day from heart disease related to what they eat. Where is the war on Twinkies?

(Pardon the pasted previous message, lets get this moving!)
