For those customers who have only paid deposits so far, the important issue is what percentage, if any, of that deposi was paid to the dealer. If Automodena had a trusting relationship with the dealers, then it is possible that the dealers did not ask for any money up front before they ordered the cars. As Automodena seemed to have quite a bit of buying power then the dealers may have been happy to receive orders without requesting deposits. In this case fraud would not have taken place in the case of the dealer who received the order but not the money.
