- I was all ready to make a post about how Jim Thome was my new, favorite, non-Padre baseball player. I'm disappointed in his decision. I will boycott drafting him in fantasy leagues. I will, however, be sure to draft Bobby Abreu and Pat Burrell.

- The Padres are also a year away from a new ballpark, and drew like 600,000 more fans than the Phillies this year. The Phillies get Thome and David Bell, and are talking to Glavine. The Padres get 86-year old Jesse Orosco, Francisco Cordova and his dead arm, and are talking to Royce Clayton about a deal. I'm sad.

- Has there ever been a more undeserving, overrated, team in the NCAA championship game than Ohio St.? Oh yeah, Nebraska, last year. It's time for playoffs.

- Chad Hutchinson -- strong arm and makes good decisions. Give him and Emmitt an O-line, and watch out.

- the words "The Texas Longhorns are the #2 basketball team in the country" have never been uttered before today, and I kinda like it. Too bad they'll be brought back to earth when they play #1 Arizona on Dec. 15th... if not sooner. Let's see: The #8 team in football, the #2 team in basketball, and reigning #1 team in baseball. I'll take it.

- The Cubs are going to be good, and it will have nothing to do with Dusty Baker.

- I like Omar Vizquel, but he did not get robbed of a Gold Glove. Michael Young did, however.

- This just in -- Michael Vick is good. The Chargers got LaDainian Tomlinson and Tim Dwight in that deal. It's working out well for all parties involved.

- Top 3 in rushing yards in the NFL:
1. Priest Holmes - Univ. of Texas - 1,322 yards
2. Tomlinson - Texas Christian Univ. - 1,318 yards
3. Ricky Williams - Univ. of Texas - 1,284 yards

- Randy Moss used to be the best player to come out of Marshall. Hi Chad Pennington.

- The Mavericks will break the Bulls' record for best record.

- Yao Ming? Admit it, you didn't think he'd be this good. I didn't.
