Just kidding about that Tejada thing. Those of us with long memories will remember a person on this forum claiming that Jeter was 2nd tier and Tejada was better. So I thought I would twist the knife a little. Clearly Jeter's two plays turned this series around. I am still in awe of the option flip to the plate. That was as heads up a play as I have seen in baseball.
We can swap OPS% and Fielding % and Runs and RBI and nipple-to-ear ratios all day long. But when the game is on the line, when the series is on the line, when the season is on the line, Derek Jeter is clutch. Some people put up #'s, some people just do whatever it takes to win.
I am going to stop short of turning into the Great Shortstop Debate Redoux. I am more than happy to have Arod on the Rangers. But Jeter is most certainly a one of a kind, special player.
