Subject: It's easier to pretend S8 and S9 didn't happen

I enjoyed S8 and S9. They were nowhere near as good as earlier seasons, but I personally thought S7 stunk compared to S8 and S9. Except for Requiem. Anyhow.

It's easier in fanfic land to pretend S8 and S9 didn't happen because that is really when MOST of the change happened. If you're into MSR, it's hard to write fanfic when Mulder is on the lam. Unless you just want Scully to be all weepy the way she was in S9. And who wants that?

The thing I love about fanfic is the fact that you can make it about whatever you want as long as you set in in the right time frame. A problem with the fanfic I read (I mostly read slash) is that most writers are in a quandry because they want to set it after Tunguska/Terma but want Krycek to have both of his arms. If I were writing it I'd just pretend the arm lopping never happened, but a lot of people are really loyal to canon.

Oh, but this thread is about the second XF movie. I've heard DD express more than once that he'd like to do another movie. I'm sure CC is into it as well. XF is, after all, the only thing he's done that hasn't flopped. GA is the only one I worry about. I read an interview with her towards the end of the last season where she said something along the lines of "I can't wait to start playing characters who drink, smoke, get laid, and don't give a rat's ass about the truth." Maybe she'll get that all out of her system while she's in London!
