Subject: DD's movies

I agree that DD has always been *VERY* positive about the idea of continuing the Mulder role in a series of XF movies. . .he just wanted out of the grind of being one of only two leads on an hour-long weekly drama.
I think he also likes the idea of being a "movie star" rather than a "TV star" which I guess is understandable; from everything I've ever read or heard of the Hollywood hierarchy, movie actors are considered "better" than TV actors. I don't know why; IMHO, it would be much more challenging to make a character believable week after week and year after year, as DD and GA did with Mulder and Scully, than to make a character believable for the length of a two-hour movie.
So if there aren't any more XF movies, it won't be DD's fault. There probably would have been more of an audience for the movies if they'd ended the TV series after season seven, or even after season eight, but I'm thinking we'll probably get at least one more and subsequent movies will likely depend more on how the second movie does in theaters and on video, then the ratings for the series finale of the TV show.
His new movie sounds good, but I've pretty much enjoyed everything he's been in. I seem to disagree with the critics and most other fans though. I actually kind of liked "Playing God" which everybody seems to think is horrible (even DD seems sort of embarassed by it) and the only one I really didn't like was "Kalifornia", which everybody -- including DD himself -- seems to think is the best thing he's ever done.
My favorite non-Mulder roles of his are still "Jake" in "Red Shoe Diaries" and "Bob" in "Return to Me".
