Subject: DD, star or actor?

I dont know if DD necessarily wants to be a movie star. Maybe. I don't know if he has the "star" quality. And I don't mean that as a criticism. I don't care for most of the big stars. DD is more offbeat though and tends to do unusual projects a lot of the time. Evolution may be as close he he gets to an action hero kind of role. Mulder fits in there sort of but I dont know if he'd ever do a Die Hard type of thing. Maybe so though. I'd love to see it!

I think what he does want is the chance to do a lot of different things and to work with different people. He seems to particularly want to work with certain people. He did Return to Me so he could work with his friend Bonnie Hunt and he did Evolution to work with Ivan Reitman. I'd be curious to know his reasons for this project. Maybe he's a fan of Ellroy's writing or maybe he thought the role would be challenging.

Being on a series all those years didn't allow him a freedom to expand his career and try different things. That was his main gripe. Not that he hated Mulder or any of the other garbage the DD haters believe.
