Subject: Power Source

I have been dutifully doing the IMA drills and I'm very pleased with the results of the impact drills 1-4. The ball goes straight but not very far eg. 100 yds with a seven iron on drill 4. No worries, these are just drills, right?
I figure the distance will come by throwing in a shoulder turn. Wrong! Sure I've got distance but it's back to the old CG directionally challenged golfer.

Then I start thinking (Oh Oh). Where's the power coming from in a shoulder turn? I guess it's the old rock on the end of a string. The string would have to be the straight left arm. (ie. All left arm pull advocates stand up and shout "yeah right on brother").

I have another thought (wow, two in one day) but this means turning or rotating and the resulting inconsitancy. There has to be a better source of power. If it's not the left what could it be?

I'm not sure where I heard this but didn't Moe or the NG people say the palm grip allowed hitting the ball like a hammer.

Back to the IMA drills. This time thinking about hammering the right hand side. Wow! The distance is back and the ball is flying straight. (All Right side push advocates stand up and say "I told you so")

Conclusion the left arm sets the level so we hit the ball clean. The levers of the right arm and wrist provide the power. (A role for both the left side and the right side, can't we all just get along?)

What does everyone else think out there in SA land?
