The reason for oversize grips for the palm grip is to keep the grip from moving into the fingers. This is why Conventional grips are smaller to keep the grip in the fingers. In SA you need larger grips to keep the grip in the palm.

The reason to have the clubshafts two inches longer in the SA ten finger grip is to maintain the same distance from the right hand down to the ground as in conventional golf. In other words adding the two inches is to extend the butt end of the grip not from the right hand down to the ground.
