This was the particular question he'd hoped he wouldn't hear. To answer it would require an uncharacteristic explanation, and he wasn't so sure that the moment was right for such a thing. A long pause ensues, the familiar sight of twitching wings bringing note to those whom knew...he was in deep consideration.

"He better not have snuck off again. He told me he was meeting someone today, and I forebade it. His new little friend needs to be taken care of, too."

A moment passes.

"I don't know," he says, in reply to her last question. "It just occured to me. Maybe I wanted to be here. Must I keep explaining? I'd hate to become mushy at a time like this. Sentinmental bouncers don't work well for the look."

A mischievous smirk tugs at the corner of his mouth.

"I can't just say you look beautiful tonight. I don't like lying. If anything, you always look beautiful."

Another moment.

"That was my way of saying thanks for thinking of me."
