Her gaze swept over the surroundings, trying to gain any evidence that Angelina or Stanley might still have a hand in this place. There were no outward signs in the dimly lit room, other than the fact that the establishment hadn't changed much...right down to it's green theme. She sighed, about to turn back to the bar, when her eyes lit upon a hole that very much looked like a bullet hole near the door. She blinked, wondering just what had gone down in this place. It could have been passed off as something that had happened long before her arrival here, except for the disconcerting condition of the door. Whatever had happened here was recent...she was pretty confident of that. And if Angelina still did own the place...did the bullet holes have something to do with why Memphis had called her? What the hell was he getting her into, anyway?

The bartender's return reclaimed her attention, and she shifted to offer the necessary funds for the mixer. It was denied, however; apparently the drink was on the house. Hmm. Small town hospitality, perhaps? She thanked the bartender, and lifted the glass to her lips. Her gaze, the hue of well aged brandy, flicked over the crystal rim and centered on the sculpted male sitting down the length of the bar from her. Lowering her drink, she observed his casual, relaxed posture. Even from here, she could tell he had enough muscle to make any woman look twice. Add in the dark, unruly hair and perfectly angled features...and well, you had a pretty decent package.

Nevaeh wasn't 'in the game', so to speak...she'd all but had it with the dating scene back home. Men were interested in few things other than a romp in the sack or the cash flow her job brought in, and most lost interest after a few months' exposure to her work schedule. In essence, she'd married her job...there were no disappointments in a good day's work. No heartache either, for that matter.

But hell, she was only human...it wasn't wrong of her to appreciate a stunning member of the male species when one came along, was it? Of course not. So she let her gaze linger, sweeping over his broad shoulders and barreled chest, down to his long legs and right back up to his thick, dark hair. Briefly, she glanced at the other booths and couches, noticing only one other couple here. Was it wishful thinking to hope the handsome stranger down the bar might be responsible for her free drink? Perhaps, but it was a damn good icebreaker, anyway. She rose her slender frame from the bar stool, setting a couple of bills down for a tip before grabbing her drink. She walked gracefully for a woman of her short stature, the small heels of her sandals clicking on the floor. Stopping when she reached his side, she offered him a slow grin. "I don't suppose it's you I have to thank for this? I hope so, because if that couple over there is responsible...I think I might get a little creeped out." She nodded to her drink, peering at him from under a thick fringe of lashes. Holy hell, he was even better looking up close! How could anyone have eyes that blue? Oh yeah, this guy had to be trouble for the womenfolk.
