 Attention all teams in all grades! I think we need to put a bit of pressure onto the swca committee to allow teams to play their games at alternative venues when a turf wicket is unplayable.
The rules state that umpires have the right to rule on the fitness of a ground but twice today where there were two teams and umpires ready to play, the committee would not allow matches to be transferred from one ground to another.
I thought we were here to play cricket! Let's stop this Bureaucratic garbage and get on with playing cricket. I urge all team reps to lobby the committee to remove this ludicrous ruling (which I can't find in the SWCA rules so it appears to be somebody's pet rule)
And...don't give me this garbage about it not being fair to other teams. The other teams at least played a game and the two of our teams lost the premiership lead or a chance at it due to this ruling.
The sun shone, the birds sang; but for 4 teams today, no cricket was played!
Should make for good disussion at the next SWCA meeting!
