There is a forum for discussion of this type. It is called a Council meeting. These occur 6 times a year. Decisions such as this are made by the Council which comprises a representative from each club. The Committee makes recommendations which are VOTED upon by the Council.

This very matter was discussed at the last Council meeting. The Council agreed (including your Club) that games scheduled to be played on turf could not be transferred to synthetic tracks if weather was a factor. If you have concerns, please speak to your Club delegate. There is a process involved in change.

>The rules state that umpires have the right to rule on
>the fitness of a ground but twice today where there
>were two teams and umpires ready to play, the
>committee would not allow matches to be transferred
>from one ground to another.

Again, the Council made this decision, not the Committee. What happens to the Club that has trouble supplying a ground that is available every round, let along supplying a further ground in case of wet weather? What happens if an entire round is scheduled to be played on turf and all but one game goes ahead because that home team could supply a synthetic track? Is that fair?

>I thought we were here to play cricket! Let's stop
>this Bureaucratic garbage and get on with playing
>cricket. I urge all team reps to lobby the committee
>to remove this ludicrous ruling (which I can't find in
>the SWCA rules so it appears to be somebody's pet rule)
>And...don't give me this garbage about it not being

>lead or a chance at it due to this ruling.
>The sun shone, the birds sang; but for 4 teams today,

>Should make for good disussion at the next SWCA
>meeting!

You're comments are offensive and ignorant. Again, there are avenues you can take to voice your concerns - look it up in the rule book.

Why diss the Committee (a group of hard working VOLUNTEERS who do everything in their collective powers to ensure a safe, fair competition for all) in a forum such as this? It's very easy to criticise from afar - I'll accept your criticism if and when you have made the same sacrifices that I and the rest of the Committee members have made.

Weather will always play it's part in the game of cricket. It's part of it's unique appeal and it's nature -what goes around, comes around. Yes, we are here to play cricket but in a manner that is fair for all teams participating in each competition.
