What always freaks me out about this episode is how one of the girls' mothers (can't remember if it's Cindy's or Tina's) just abandons her daughter to that hellhole of a mental hospital.
Granted, the child was a murderer. But she was also only *EIGHT* years old!! Now, normally, I'm not a big fan of the "They don't need punishment they need treatment" and the "It's not really their fault, they're sick not evil" arguments for getting people off the hook when they kill someone. But in the case of pre-teen children, I think these theories have validity.
My take on this was that "Mom" rejected the girl not so much because she was a murderer as because she wasn't, biologically, her own daughter. Hmm.. . .if a woman can reject a child she carried in her womb, gave birth to and raised for eight years simply because she discovers there's not genetic connection between the two of them. . .maybe the kid's better off in a mental hospital, after all!
