I also really liked this episode. Like I mentioned over at the Doggett board, I am opposed to Doggett and Reyes being in love, but Robert Patrick's acting made it all seem ok. I happen to think that he is just wonderful.

Scully did seem kind of cold in this episode. At first it bothered me but the more I thought about it, the more it fit. I should have known better than to second guess Gillian Anderson. I think that Scully forced herself to have a clinical detachment because she herself cares so much about Monica. If you think about it, Monica is the first real friend (not counting Mulder, which is totally different) since that chick in The Jersey Devil. We've seen evidence that Scully and Monica have become close in the past episodes, and if Scully allowed herself to give Doggett hope, or even to comfort him more than she did, she would have had to confront her own sadness and loss. And if there is one thing we know about Scully, she doesn't like to show any vulnerability!
