When I write I do the opening and the ending to start...If I don't HAVE an ending I DON'T have a story. I have to know where I am going. NOW...not EVERYONE is like that...but if you read a lot of fanfic...you will find many, many great ideas going absolutely nowhere. And that happens to me a lot...my hard drive is full of that sort of thing...But I NEVER publish those stories. And one of the KEYS to a good ending is to pay attention to the plot points you have set up along the way. When I write in Shipperville with you...I often pop in and turn the storyline in a new direction.

But it's not just ANY direction...I read what was written before...I look for patterns...and then I act on those patterns and add information. I always have an ending in mind when I do that. Of course, you guys seldom let me REACH that ending...but CC is in the same situation(on a grander scale)...it is HIS JOB to drive the storyline toward HIS ending(like Cameron, like Whedon, like any writer). I firmly believe that CC is not up to this job.

That's why I could sort of see the writing on the wall for CC and Co. along about the time of Two Father/One Son...I shrugged it off...but the REAL problem was the Samantha thing...many people said "He should have ended it there." and I was like "OH, HOW LAME!" Seriously, I am an AMATEUR and I could have written a better story than that! I asked myself, "Is that the best he can do?"

And looking back over the years...it hit me that YES, that was the best CC could do...so I became an ardent SHIPPER because I thought, "Well, maybe he can handle the simple romance that fate has dropped in his lap...but alas...NOPE!" I don't think CC is a good writer not because he lacks for creative turns of phrase or spooky ideas...I think he has no real focus...I think that he REALLY CAN'T END this...so, he scribbles on the page "AND EVERYBODY DIES...the END." Or any of the other standard writing cliches..."It was all a dream"..."There really is no answer"..."I'm not telling you what happens next, you get to guess"..."How do YOU want it to end"...or "The only man who knows anything is MAD...MAD I TELL YOU...so, how much of this is his own delusion is anyones guess."

EVERY ONE of those endings is a cop out. And CC should be ashamed of himself if that's all he's got. I don't care how much money he made off of this show...a story is only as good as its last scene.

Rabid/Raeann
who can't respect the lazy writer...I would much rather CC was like one of those totally untalented people who write banal sitcoms...at least then I wouldn't be so disappointed in him.
