"Hahahahahaha!" Samuel Duchoverson erupts into hysterical laughter. "You don't *arrange* an awakening. Do you really think they don't know when they are being set up? You disappoint me."

Mulder grabs Scully's arm as she steps toward the boy. "Scully...."

Scully pulls her arm away from Mulder's grasp. She bends down toward the boy, wagging a finger just inches from his nose. "Listen to me, you little punk. Either you cooperate with us or you'll spend the rest of your life in the loony bin. Just ask this one," she jerks her thumb toward Mulder, "what that is like."

"Oh, please. Do I really look that dumb? The state can't hold me beyond my twenty-first birthday." Duchoverson, who has been picking at a hangnail, stops and looks up at Scully. "Say, toots, do you have a cigarette?"

Scully leaves the room, slamming the door behind her. She goes into the restroom and kicks the door to the stall several times, nearly breaking the 5 inch heel off her shoe. Then she emerges and watches Mulder and the boy through the one-way glass. Mulder gives the boy a package, ruffles his hair and emerges.

"Mulder, what did you give him?" Scully demands.

"A pack of cigarettes."

"Where did you get cigarettes? You don't smoke."

"Remember the incident with the tobacco beetles? I still get these cravings."

"Yeah, yeah. Listen, I was looking through the case file and noticed that one little girl escaped. A redhead that the other kids seem to know only as 'Red'. I think we need to find her and talk to her, Mulder."

"I knew a 'Red' once. Boy, was she something! She did this thing with her.."

"Mulder, I don't want to hear it," interrupts Scully. "Are we going to find this girl or not?"

Mulder shakes off the dreamy look. "Yes. Where should we start?"

"How about the SCHOOL," says Scully. Then under her breath, "You nimrod."

"I heard that!"

Scully sighs. "Fine. Can I drive this time?"
