Toby: Excellent work. Now we know the name, approximate location and date. Apparently the bikers were the Chicago Outlaws and not the Madison Outlaws. Interesting enough about (8) years after this festival I got involved in a what could have been a bizarre land deal with the Chicago Outlaws. I actually had the president come to my office one day and we drove out in the coutry in Northern Illinois looking for a permanent party site for the club. The guy actually owned a manufacturing company in the Chicago area and was a pretty good guy. He told me he had been trying to clean up the club. Apparently it did not work as the local president, who dropped of the cash deposit, was murdered in a gang fued a couple of years ago.
How did you obtain that story. Did you get it over the internet or did you have to do ground research. I tried a couple of times to get into the S.P. newspaper archives, but was unable to. It sounds like the war was on Sunday and not Saturday afternoon like I thought. If I don't remember correctly the days seemed to blend together there. We left on Sunday afternoon as well but not because of the war, we had to work the next day.
