 I won a handwriting competition at my school in Manchester,I won a 13day educational cruise on the SS Uganda.Met up with a school from Leyland in Lancashire in Nov 1975 .Flew from Gatwick to Dubrovnik to board ship,and cruised round the Mediterranean Crete pyramids ,Bethlehem Athens flew back from Athens.It was an experience I've never forgot ,met some great people was in a terrible storm one night.Couldnt go on the deck but of course we did and got told off.The school never had heard anybody talk from Manchester and were quite agog with my lingo.I was whisked off by my dad because there was a train due when we landed back at Gatwick ,so didn't get to say goodbye properly.Had a great time with some lovely people who took me in as I was one of them .
