 I was on the same cruise with Shire Oak Grammar school from the Midlands.The storm you relate to was indeed a cracker but it occurred after we left Gibraltar in the Mediterranean on the way to Malta.We'd all heard tales about the potential storms in the Bay of Biscay and thought we'd got away with it but the Med had us instead....A couple of lads from each dormitory where appointed prefects which gave them extra privileges such as no queuing for meals,an extra half an hour on the deck at night to ha e a smoke...l kid you not...However l was not 16 so couldn't be a prefect but on the second morning someone handed me a prefects badge they thought l had dropped so from then on happy days...no more queuing and a fag at the end of the day..Good memories..
