I was working in the Barcalays Bank Exchange office during that cruise. You must have been a wealthy group as we nearly ran out of Greek currency before the end of the first day and the roulette stall at the student's fun fair ran out of money that evening!Between Rhodes and Beirut we celebrated the 21st birthday of cadet Keith Glass in the Officers Smoke Room. The tour to Baalbek the next day was one of the highlights of my time on Uganda.I well remember waking up to find the ship at anchor outside of Venice in the fog with nil visibility. One of the outbound flights from Gatwick had to divert to Genoa ,and on board we had to organise a bingo session to entertain the cabin passengers. We eventually got alongside late afternoon during a brief break in the fog, but no body got away until the next day. Even then the start of the next cruise was delayed as fog in Gatwick delayed outward flights and the passengers on the last flight out had to be picked up in Dubrovnik.I still have a copy of a magazine produced by the Dorset group including such gems as The Rope that Saved Uganda,How Duncan was Diddled,The Lebanon Grand Prix, and Ode to David Brown (an officer much admired by female students!)
