 This site has brought back great memories. I along with my school mates from 'The Deanes School' in Thundersley, Essex flew out to Naples on a old Dan Air Comet in December 1979. We the visited Pompei, Kos, Egypt, Israel, Sicily etc.
I still remember the smell of the food and the happy Indian crew and the days of sea sickness. A few of the students spent time in the hospital ward with yellow fever.
I have just seen a photograph of the Uganda from the eighties after it was washed ashore in a typhoon and partially stripped before being scrapped.
A sad end to a ship that holds so many memories for so many people.
