Subject: April 82 Cruise

I was an 18 and 19 year old passenger on the April 82 cruise during which she was requisitioned, my second trip. Some memories from that voyage are:

The trip to the Pyramids and the cancellation of the planned light show there so we could return to the ship for an early departure.

My leaving shortly before departure from Alexandria to head back to the port shops, noting that I was leaving the ship only half an hour or so to the planned last boarding time and checking carefully to be sure I'd be back in time.

Talk that it was very unusual and somewhat dangerous to be leaving the port at night.

Some vessel occasionally showing lights behind us as we transited to Naples at high speed. Anyone have any idea which vessel this was?

Bothering the poor purser, who was doing his inventory.

Watching the school parties disembark to TV coverage at Naples. A quick trip to the airport and home for everyone, no sightseeing in the city.

50% refund of the cost of the trip.

The food was good or excellent, on both the earlier school trip and this one.

A shipboard infatuation with a young woman who was herself interested (most wisely!:)) in someone other than me.

An exciting tip for a definitely unworldly youth.
