 I was on the SS Uganda in 1976 from a Walsall Primary School. We flew to Malta and boarded there. We visited Gibraltar, Tangiers and Santander. We couldn’t go to Lisbon due to the political climate. We had a rough crossing in the Bay of Biscay. Some of us didn’t like the food onboard and so we survived on “Munchies” from the tuck shop. We wore bright orange Baker boy hats so that the teachers could keep an eye on us.
