We travelled up to Dundee early in the morning and was very excited as we had never been away from our parents before! The cruise went to Rotterdam and we boarded a bus to Amsterdam then the cruise went down to Spain and Portugal. I remember we had to avoid Oporto as there was a strike so went to Gibraltar. They laid on taxis for us to go up the rock to St Michael's cave and then we headed to Casablanca. There again, we had a coach to Rabat and it was really scary being on your own as we did not speak their language and did not hang around with our teachers. I remember all the fun onboard and getting into the 'others' disco - us kids had to stay on our side of the ship and barriers! Do you remember going through the Bay of Biscay? - we kept getting back into the swimming pool when told to get out! It was like having your own surf pool. Wonderful memories. I did get fed up a few times as there was only a few days ashore and rest was stuck on the ship, but we always found something to do. Happy memories. I remember it was July 1979.
