Looking back over the years, its hard to beleive that its been 25 yrs since i sailed as a Sea cadet on the Uganda.
I was one of Two Welsh sea cadets in a group of 50 or so . my self and a ginger lad called Jeff Jones( who sadly died on his 17th birthday)i was lucky enouhgt to work on board in the galley with a number of other cadets , Bob from Salisbury, elaine ? and a few others.
Remember chef and welsh backer Dai.
also remember Fordy from cheshire and his mate and jock from cambletown. also remember with vivid adolescent tingles . Carolyn Horne from port seaton scotland , sarah and caroline from St Helier jersey and many more whos names have been lost in the passing of tides,
had the best two weeks of my life on board.
we flew from Gatwick to Malta. boarded the ship and sailed to Alexandira. day trip to pyramids and then back onto Crete and then onto split where we all flew homw.
remember and still love the rod stewert song Sailing, which played every time we sailed out and leaving ona jet plane which played on the last day of the trip.
my email is
a.d.hughes@btinternet.com if any one remembers the trip and wants to get in touch.
take care all and bon voyage..

great site and even greater ship .
