I was fortunate to go on the Uganda in 1975 what a great ship she was, we flew out from Gatwick to Athens on a Dan-Air 727, and joined the ship in Pireus, sailing across the Med,visiting places such as Rhodes, Alexandria, Cairo, Port Said, Haifa, Jerusalem, Nazareth, and on to Santorin, returning to Pireus. I'll never forget the Pyramids,riding on a camel and swimming in the Sea Of Galilee.
I remember a couple of very rough days sailing with queues at the sick bay for sea sick pills,having a tour of the ships bridge was very enjoyable. Our dormatory was below the waterline, and remember the chains to the bunks rattling all night with the vibration of the engines. Being woken at the crack of dawn with the words: Good Morning Students and the replies being less than polite from everyone!!!
Such great memories of reading everyone elses messages on this forum, has brought it all back.
