This site is great,Just stumbled across this page and thought i would say hello,I remember the SS Uganda pretty well after my trip to Stavanger,Aarhus/Arhus and Amsterdam i think in 1974.I have read a few messages in your site i too have very fond memories of SS Uganda,i recall the first morning at sea woken by some sicko knocking out a tune just like that mad bird on hidee-bloody-hi!!and amazed that i couldnt stand straight as the ship ploughed through the cold North sea,and breakfast! oh joy watered down orange juice and something else on a plate, the food trays being whipped away by the indian kitchen staff, the waves spraying up and soaking you as you watched the mops and deck quoits sail by,there was another reason as not to lean on the railings for too long, and that was someone on the next deck up was bound to spit on you,it was nearly compulsary!!! 10 years old and away from home for the first time can be a bit scary but is nothing when i discovered that our dorm was WELL below the water line and i regularly skipped quickly past the thick water tight doors just in case they decided to suddenly shut!!Well toast is nearly ready and i could go on for hours but i must go now glad i found this place seeing a picture of the ship does give me good memories, pity the old girl is gone but i suppose better she was lost at sea than torn apart in some scrap yard.Oh and one final note does anyone remember how all the drinking fountain were choked with buns and everywhere stank of sick, oh to be 10 again....
