Hi, just read your message. I was also a pupil of QMHS and was also lucky to cruise on the Uganda. we sailed from Liverpool in 1975 and went to Gibralta, Tangiers, Vigo, malaga and Corunna in Spain. It was my first time abroad and will never forget it. I remembeer another school from Newport in Gwent and we made some great friends. I still have photos and a card which we got all our new friends to sign.
I do remember stormy seas around the Bay of Biscay and lots of sea sickness. I remember deck games and time in the pool.
North Africa was a massive culture shock, I remember the bazaar and the local men wanting to trade some camels for a fellow pupil,a girl called Pamela. She was petrified, I am sure it must of been a teachers joke.We also visited the palace in Granada which was beautiful. It was such a brilliant experience. I think the teachers enjoyed it too. I can only remember Mrs Perrin, I think she taught history. I think we did attend some lessons on the ship too.
I still have my badges, one is brown and white.
