I found this site by accident and am so glad that I did (hope it's still going?). I sailed on the Uganda in either 76/77, can't remember now! I went to a girls school in Liverpool (Queen Mary High School), and I think we sailed from Liverpool. Ww were a small school and only a small group as most parents couldn't afford such a trip; we were the lucky ones. I remember being the only kid who wanted to go on the Baltic cruise but was out voted. We visited Madeira, Lisbon, Casablanca and Vigo and maybe more places but I can't remember. I do remember the trip to the sardine canning plant in Lisbon, put me off them for years, lol. I also remember the awful dormitories and everyone being sick all over the place and the awful canteen and worse food. We used to try and sneak out of the dorms at night but it was a ricky business, lol. There was a lovely crew member with a white beard, a big man, so gentle and kind. I also remember us getting dressed up in fancy dress and parading in front of the guests, we all went as snow white an the seven dwarfs (the dwarfs all on their knees with their shoes taped to the front of them like little feet!!), we didn't win but we got a lot of laughs from the guests. We used to play songs on the duke box all the time and I remember ELO had a huge hit at the time called 'It's a living thing' or something like that. There must have been loads of kids but I only remember a school from London, the boys and girls were great and I had a bit of a crush on a boy called Dave; didn't we all have crushes? I kept my badge for years and my muster station badge too but lost them eventually. It was one of the best experiences of my life, I was one lucky girl. I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers that particular cruise.
