 A group of us from Fortrose Academy went on our first cruise and overseas trip on the Uganda, calling at Vigo, Lisbon, Cueta and Malaga. The common room blasted out music such as The Beatles with Hey Jude and Mary Hopkin's Those Were The Days, hearing these songs now brings it all back. Memories too of heavy seas going through the Bay of Biscay, sick bags and abandoned lumps of chocolate cake in the canteen . . . and buying souvenirs like a sombreros and castanets. That was the start of the travelling bug for me.
