Flew by Dan Air on a "Comet" so going back a fair way. Can't remember where we flew from or to. Visited Dubrovnik and would like to go back one day, Alexandria for Cairo and the pyramids and spinx at Giza (a let down and put me off Egypt forever), then Haifa for Jerusalam (would like to return), Cyprus to go to Konnosos (Not sure of spelling) it was a ruined city and very wet and cold, then ? Athens and home.
Was in early teens and first trip overseas. Many more since as emigrated to South Africa.
Remember the dorms as had lower bunk. Also for some strange reason I remember the rather odd orange juice we had, a bit like dish water. I also remember hands grabing our empty trays through a slot in the wall - never saw faces but presume they were human.
Can't remember many names but one friend I knew then sadly died in a road accident in the mid 1990's (Robert Smith) from Staffordshire.
Strange to find this site - just redecorated bathroom and was looking for black and white prints of liners on the web and saw one of SS Uganda. Now in my 50's and far exceeded any goals I had back then in my teens. Funny how life moves on. Even got as far as Australia recently.
